The Performers

Tom Jackson
Appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2000 for his music and humanitarian work, Tom is well known to Canadians as an accomplished musician and actor dedicated to helping the less fortunate. At the 2007 Junos, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) bestowed Tom with the Humanitarian Award in recognition for his positive contributions to the social landscape of Canada. Tom has a unique way of uniting people to create change and this instinct prevails despite all odds.
Tom Cochrane
Tom Cochrane was born in Lynn Lake, Manitoba, the son of a bush pilot. The family soon relocated to Ontario, and Tom set the stage for his future when, at age 11, he swapped a toy train set for his first guitar. By the early '70s, he was performing folk-oriented material in coffeehouses in Yorkville. Cochrane played with Red Rider, which eventually became Tom Cochrane & Red Rider, but by the early 1990's Cochrane's solo career was taking him to new heights. His 1991 tour de force, Mad Mad World, became one of the biggest-selling Canadian records of all time, scoring diamond status (for a million sales) in Canada and selling two million copies in international sales. Tom now divides his time between the tour bus, the city and his beloved studio/retreat "Layastone" on the shores of Georgian Bay.

Deborah Cox
Having conquered the R&B, pop and dance charts as another of ace record executive Clive Davis' discoveries and starred on Broadway in Elton John's and Tim Rice's "Aida,"the Toronto-born singer/actress now returns to the world of R&B, where it all started for her, with her new album THE PROMISE. "At the end of the day, it is just an honest collection of songs that everyone can find meaning in." And so now, six years and two children after her last studio album of new material, another new chapter in Deborah Cox's career beckons – the return to where it all began – the world of R&B music.
JD Fortune
JD Fortune catapulted to international rock stardom in 2005 upon winning the position of new lead singer of the world-renowned Australian band INXS. Fortune, who hails from new Glasgow, Nova Scotia has been singing alternately in bands and as a solo artist throughout most of his young life and has most recently left the group after four years of nonstop touring the world. He finally made the choice that the time has come to be known by his own name and for his own compositions. He is a prolific songwriter – having penned several hit songs for INXS including his first international breakout hit Pretty Vegas.

Nathan
For Juno Award winners Nathan, the tradition of western music is about the restless, rough-and-tumble feel of a frontier town, and everyone still yearns to get the hell out of Dodge sometimes. Nathan's songs are endearingly, alluringly homemade (a philosophy that goes farther than just the songwriting -- consider the quilts hand-stitched by Keri and Shelley that decorate the stage at live shows and serve as evocative album art). And the homey feel follows through to Key Principles' subject matter, which often centers on the idea of domestic life while documenting the paradox of places that are somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
One More Girl
Collectively known as One More Girl, sisters Britt & Carly McKillip have been making music together since they were young and are already seasoned veterans of the entertainment business. Their first single and video for the song I Can Love Anyone is enjoying immediate success at Country radio across Canada as well as CMT, and became available for purchase on iTunes on December 23, 2008. One More Girl has grown up immersed in the country music scene, both here in Canada and in Nashville and cite music legends Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell and Patty Loveless as both influences and favourites.

Moses Mayes
Since 1999, the music of Moses Mayes has been moving people on the dance floor and from their stereos across North America. Their live performances have earned them a reputation as one of the best acts in their scene, playing to festival and club audiences and leading the new funk fusion sound over the last nine years. Add three full-length releases, two Western Canadian Music Awards, shared stages with funk legends Herbie Hancock & James Brown, appearances at all of Canada’s major Jazz Festivals, thousands of record sales and you have an accumulation of years of experience in orchestrating grooves, and destroying dance floors across the country.
Bet.e
Immersed in music since her childhood in Trois-Rivières, Bet.e. became a singer by willing herself to believe her dream would come true. "I wanted to sing at a very early age," she admits candidly. The songs she writes broach the changes in our lives, crossroads we take to find not only ourselves but true and meaningful happiness. Cole Porter’s You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To, Brazilian style, proves that it’s not that easy to leave cherished loves behind. In light of the anecdotes of her childhood and her own personal growth, it’s not surprising that that she confer to b.coming a more soul-like flavor.

Barra MacNeils
As a group, the six MacNeil siblings are widely regarded as one of the greatest live acts in the Celtic music world. Hailing from Sydney Mines, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, the family group is deeply rooted in Celtic music, culture and history. Their numerous critically acclaimed recordings have included their own original songs as well as tried-and-true standards, both instrumental and vocal. Multi-award winners, the Barra MacNeils have released numerous recordings including, Racket In the Attic (2002), Christmas Album (1999), Until Now (1997). Canada's Celtic ambassadors, the Barra MacNeils continue to perform to sold-out audiences throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and the United Kingdom.
